    Continuous professional development is indispensable for competent professional practice. This forms part of the further training not only of our vets but of the team as a whole.

    Small Animal Veterinary Practitioner

    In 1999 Karen Voelkel completed her study of veterinary medicine at the veterinary faculty of the Free University of Berlin. She founded the Tierarztpraxis am Millerntor (Veterinary Practice at Millerntor) in Hamburg – St. Pauli in early 2010, after several years of residency in various animal clinics and veterinary practices throughout Germany and continuing education at a number of veterinary training institutions.

    I am constantly working to expand my knowledge to the benefit of your pet’s health through continuous training.

    1992 – 1999: Studies in veterinary medicine at the veterinary faculty of the Freie Universität Berlin.
    1999 – 2008: Employment in small, highly professional animal practices and clinics.
    since 1999: Regular further training in the small animal sector (especially in the areas of internal medicine, parasitology, dietetics, radiology, and laboratory diagnostics).
    since 1999: Regular further training in internal medicine, for example, at the Akademie für tierärztliche Fortbildungen (ATF; Academy for Veterinary Training).
    since 2001: Voluntary work for various animal welfare organizations at home and abroad.
    2002 – 2004: Additional training in physiotherapy (physical therapy) and neural therapy at Vierbeiner Reha-Zentrum (animal rehabilitation center) in Bad Wildungen.
    2010: Established the Tierarztpraxis am Millerntor
    2010 – 2012: Intensive training in acupuncture at the Akademie für tierärztliche Fortbildungen (ATF; Academy for Veterinary Training) at Justus-Liebig-Universität Gießen.
    2010 – 2011: Advanced training in dentistry under Dr. Dr. Fahrenkrug.
    since 2010: Volunteer care for animals owned by homeless people animals. The  Obdachlosen-Tierhilfe (an animal welfare organization for the homeless) is an initiative of the  Deutsches Rotes Kreuz (German Red Cross), the Franziskus Tierheim (St. Francis Animal Shelter) and the Tierärztekammer Hamburg (Hamburg Veterinary Chamber).
    since 2010: Regular further training in the area of diagnostic ultrasound, for example at the Akademie für tierärztliche Fortbildungen (Academy for Veterinary Training).
    2012: Various trainings in the areas of internal medicine and laboratory diagnostics.
    2012: Intensive seminar in anesthetic management.
    2013: Various trainings in the areas of internal medicine, ultrasound, dermatology, and allergology.
    2013: Intensive seminar in laboratory diagnostics, hematology, and endocrinology.
    2013: 2-day intensive seminar in the fields of allergology and dermatology.
    2013: Intensive seminar in sonography, internal diagnostics.
    2014: Intensive seminar: “The Patient with Ascites Disease” at the animal clinic Lademannbogen.
    2014: Intensive seminar in laboratory diagnostics in the area of cytologie at Timmendorfer Tierärzteseminare.
    2014: Advanced training in dentistry at the Deutschen Gesellschaft für Zahnheilkunde (DGT; German Society for Dentistry).
    2014: Intensive seminar in neurological examination at the animal clinic Norderstedt.
    2014: Intensive seminar about “The Relationship between Sonography and Laboratory Parameters” at scil animal care campany.

    Dr. Stephanie Götzke

    Small Animal Veterinary Practitioner

    Dr. Stephanie Götzke is an important part of our practice since day one and specialized in ultrasound investigations and echocardiography (heart ultrasound). If necessary, it is possible to schedule an appointment promptly.
    She also works as holiday cover for us.

     

     

    1986 – 1991: Study of veterinary medicine at the Stiftung Tierärztliche Hochschule Hannover (University of Veterinary Medicine Hanover).
    1993: Doctorate at the Stiftung Tierärztliche Hochschule Hannover (University of Veterinary Medicine Hanover).
    since 1993: Work as veterinary practitioner.
    since 1995: Cardiological diagnostics.
    since 2004: Ultrasound examinations of the heart.
    since 2007: Self-employed with the “Mobile Diagnostikpraxis” (mobile diagnostics practice), providing cardiological and ultrasound services to colleagues in private practices in Hamburg and surrounding areas.

    Anna-Lena Schumann

    Veterinary Assistant, Physiotherapist

    Anna-Lena Schumman started working in our practice as TFA (Veterinary Assistant) in 2011. Through her additional qualifications as a physiotherapist and osteopath she complements the range of services we offer.
    Additionally, she always has an open ear for all your questions.

     

    2007 – 2009: Training as Veterinary Assistant (TFA).
    seit 2009: Regular training in nutrition counseling.
    2010: Emergency management training.
    2013: X-ray course at the Vierbeiner Reha Zentrum (animal rehabilitation center) in Bad Wildungen.

    Alena Bielig

    The veterinarian Alena Bielig has been supporting us since May 2020
     
    In addition, she is working on a doctoral thesis in the field of animal nutrition at the University of Veterinary Medicine Hannover.
     
    Before studying veterinary medicine, Ms. Bielig learned and worked as a veterinary assistant in the former animal clinic in Norderstedt.
     

    Mara Königshofen

    Actively supports our team since summer 2021.

    Former zoo animal keeper and not only because of that a real enrichment for our team.
     
     
     

    Chiara Ricciardi

    A part time member of our team since 2018, Chiara will be our full time Veterinary Technician Trainee for 2018.
